Your FINAL computer class assignment is to create an online portfolio that you will use in 8th grade and high school to plan your high school and college classes and to explore careers. READ CAREFULLY! Step 1: Go to the website Ihaveaplaniowa.gov (click here) Step 2: Click on the Green tab (Middle School/High School Students) and you are a First TIme User. Step 3: A new window will open. It will say Create Your Portfolio at the top. You need to choose the city of Underwood (because thats where you go to school), then your school: Underwood Middle School. Fill in the rest of the blanks with your information.
Choose a portfolio name that you will remember. Be sure to write it down somewhere because Miss Coenen will need it AND your password. Remember that capital letters count, so write it EXACTLY as you type it in. Use something that is related to your name in some way so its easy for me to recognize you. Try a last name, or part of last name and a number or something else that is easy to remember. When you have everything filled in, then click on Create Your Portfolio. (Post-its on the desk to write down user name and password) Do NOT share your username and password with anyone.
If your user name is already being used by someone else, then you will have to choose a new user name. If you have questions or get stuck, ask for help!
Step 4: If your user name worked, then you will be taken to a page with a blue box that says "Choices Explorer". Be sure to write down your user name and password for Miss Coenen! There are post-its on the desk. That would be a good place to write it down. Step 5: In the top right hand corner click on Sign Out. Then sign in again. This shows me that you know your user name and password.
Step 6: When you are signed in, Click on Choices Explorer again. This is your home page for your portfolio. To start with, you are going to take a survey to see what you are interested in. Scroll down about halfway to the Guideways (orange box) section. Click on "See all avaliable guideways". You will take the "Get Started Guideway". After that, follow the steps it gives you. Once you are completely done with all the steps (all 9 of them) let me know. If you have questions as you work, let me know. This might take more than one day to complete so you need to work hard to complete this. Read carefully!
